A major air accident has occurred in Afghanistan. According to Afghan media reports, in a tragic incident the plane deviated from its original route and crashed into a mountainous area in Zebak district in Badakhshan on the night of Saturday, January 20. Till now, no official statement has been issued by the Government of India and the Government of Afghanistan regarding the identity of this aircraft.

The plane is not from India

The Indian Civil Aviation Ministry posted on Twitter, saying, ‘The unfortunate plane crash that has just occurred in Afghanistan is neither an Indian aircraft nor a non-scheduled (NSOP)/charter aircraft. This is a Moroccan registered small aircraft. More information is awaited. Earlier it was being claimed in the Afghan media that this aircraft is Indian.

Afghan government sent investigation team to the accident site

Zabihullah Amiri, head of Badakhshan’s information and culture department, said the passenger plane crashed in the Topkhana mountains along the Koran-Munjan and Zebak districts of Badakhshan province. He said that a team has been sent to the area for investigation. According to local people, the plane crashed on Sunday morning.
